The old guy (16 x 12 inches / 41 x 30 cm), my latest encaustic on panel, part of my people in public spaces series.
For this encaustic painting, my aim was to experiment with my new tacking iron as a way to fuse the painted wax in layers. The painting contains many layers of wax and, in addition to the tacking iron, I incised the wax to emphasize the drawing and completed the fusing with my heat gun.
For anyone interested in encaustic techniques, I recommend the blog site of Jonathan Parks entitled ParksArtworks / Encaustic Resources, which contains a wealth of information on the technique and history of encaustics.
Talbot Arts is the very reliable Canadian firm from whom I purchased my taking iron.
